Background of the study

Personalized digital marketing has emerged as a transformative approach in building long-term customer loyalty by delivering tailored experiences based on individual preferences and behaviors. For online retailers in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, employing personalized marketing strategies—such as customized email campaigns, targeted social media ads, and dynamic website content—can significantly enhance customer satisfaction and repeat purchase behavior (Okafor, 2023). By leveraging data analytics and consumer insights, brands can segment their audience and deliver relevant messaging that addresses specific needs and preferences. This personalized approach not only improves the customer journey but also fosters a deeper emotional connection with the brand, leading to enhanced loyalty. Despite the promising benefits, challenges such as data privacy concerns, integration complexities, and high implementation costs may hinder the effectiveness of personalized marketing strategies. This study examines how personalized digital marketing impacts customer loyalty for an online retailer in Port Harcourt. Statement of the problem

Online retailers in Port Harcourt encounter difficulties in effectively implementing personalized digital marketing strategies due to challenges such as data management issues and privacy concerns. These challenges can lead to a disconnect between personalized efforts and actual customer loyalty, resulting in lower-than-expected retention rates. This study aims to investigate the gap between personalized marketing initiatives and customer loyalty outcomes, identifying key barriers and proposing actionable solutions (Okafor, 2023).
